Are We Not Poets?
Perhaps not. It was just Jane and I for the UnOccupied rehearsal. Just had some business to attend to and Xochitl is currently trekking across South America.
Jane and I still have to talk about this with Just and Xochitl, but we both feel that UnOccupied should be considered a theatrical group and leave the word poetic out of it. We don’t want to change what we are doing creatively, just how we describe what we are about.
So Jane came in wary about one of the songs she wrote for “Committed” because she didn’t like the sound of it on her keyboard.
We met at my place so we could use my studio and she ran through it on my Clavinova using a dual piano setting and it seemed to give her a huge lift. It is amazing how big a difference the tone of an instrument makes.
In any case, her song kicks ass, and I’m glad that she was able to get a sense of how good her song is. I quickly threw up a mic and recorded it and we’re now on our way with pre-production.
Just before Jane got there, I finished up the basic guitar, bass and drum tracks for the pop/punk song for the sex-scene part of “Committed”.
We jawed on about some heart to creative heart stuff and that was the deal for the evening. It was almost 8 PM and I still had a two hour drive to my next engagement.
